In “Foundations of Meditation – Part Two: Commitment, Humility, Environment, and Posture” I continue our exploration of the meditation fundamentals necessary to build a deep and thriving practice.

In our meditation journey, it can be easy to overlook the important foundations that support and shape our practice. We often dive into meditation without giving much thought to these foundations. The results are inconsistent and frustrating. Sometimes, meditation practice feels deep and fulfilling, while at other times we struggle with boredom, lack of focus, or distraction.

Focusing on these pillars of practice and understanding their significance, we begin to unlock the full potential of meditation. In doing so, we lay the flagstones for a transformational practice container.

In this series, I examine the importance of establishing a meditation container rooted in the higher potential it aims toward. In “Part One,” I explored motivation, intention, and strategies to subvert that bane of meditation, the inner critic.

Now, in “Foundations of Meditation – Part Two,” I highlight four foundational principles for generating a transformative container on your meditation cushion: commitment, humility, environment, and posture.

In this episode, I explore the power of commitment to guarantee consistent practice, even when your motivation is low, and why humility fosters openness to new wisdom and growth. Plus, I share some practical tips on optimizing your meditation space and posture for a more profound experience.
