In “Foundations of Meditation – Part Three: Concentration Practice” I continue our exploration of the meditation fundamentals necessary to build a strong and transformative container for your practice.

On our meditation journey, it can be easy to neglect the crucial foundations that underlie and shape our practice, sometimes leading to inconsistent and frustrating results.

In the “Foundations of Meditation” series, I examine the importance of establishing a meditation framework rooted in the higher potential it aims toward. In “Part One,” I explored motivation, intention, and strategies to subvert that bane of meditation, the inner critic.

And in “Part Two” I highlighted four foundational principles for generating a transformative container on your meditation cushion: commitment, humility, environment, and posture.

Now in “Foundations of Meditation – Part Three,” I explore the importance of concentration. Learning a concentration practice that you can rely on is a valuable tool in your spiritual toolkit–available for use during periods of intense distraction or when your mind feels overwhelmed.

On the path of direct awakening, I don’t emphasize concentration practice. And yet, it can be particularly helpful if you struggle to maintain focus during your meditation. Why? Because it can enhance your ability to stay present and fully absorbed in your practice.

In this episode, I also show you a simple practice you can do for developing concentration that will give you real and immediate results.
