In Freedom from Spiritual Materialism,” I explore a common quandary in meditation and spiritual growth: how our natural desire to achieve something through practice—like personal improvement, existential relief, or blissful experiences—can actually block our progress.

And there’s the rub. True spiritual growth involves letting go, not acquiring more. And that challenges some deeply ingrained ways of relating to life.

As spiritual seekers, we strive to awaken and experience the liberating depth and profound potentials of meditation. However, we often approach the spiritual path—and life itselfwith a natural inclination to grasp, hold on to, and accumulate these experiences for self-enhancement, self-confidence, and to bolster our self-centered narratives. In the process, we miss the point of true spiritual awakening!

To achieve our deepest spiritual aspirations, we must approach meditation and spiritual growth unlike anything else in lifeessentially ‘wanting it without wanting it.’

This paradoxical idea may sound challenging, but in this episode I share key insights into how you can shift your orientation from achievement and acquisition to receptivity and surrender.

It’s from this subtle ground that the deeper dimensions of meditation and awakening will open to you.
